Save 20 percent on cool brain fitness software

Maybe now’s not the time to shell out money to sharpen your mind. Nonetheless, San Francisco-based Posit Science, the maker of scientifically vetted “brain fitness” software, is offering 20 percent off two of its flagship products.

The Brain Fitness Program features “six computer-based exercises for use on a PC or Mac,” according to the company’s Web site. “These exercises speed up and sharpen how the brain processes and remembers sounds.”

Normally priced at $395 for a single-user version and $495 for a two-user version of the software, the discount (according to my calculation) brings those prices down to $316 and $396, respectively.

The brain fitness software “helped reverse the cognitive effects of aging in 93 percent of elderly subjects, according to a 2006 study. After a few months of intensive training, the brains of 75-year-olds had the memory function of people decades younger, at least when tested in a lab,” all according to a Washington Post report from August.

The company’s other reportedly cognitive-enhancing product, InSight, “features five computer-based exercises for use on a PC,” according to the site. “These exercises speed up and sharpen how the brain processes and remembers visual information.”

InSight carries the same price tags, and thus the same discount, as Brain Fitness.

For more information or to take advantage of the offer, which expires Dec. 18, visit the company’s site. If you decide to buy, type in the code “PSC20HPE” at checkout. Posit Science says a portion of the proceeds will benefit Alzheimer’s disease prevention and research.
