Irvine’s cutest, scariest and most original costumed kids stand to win some prizes (and candy) on Halloween. University Center, a retail center located across the street from UC Irvine at Campus Drive and Bridge Road, is hosting a family-friendly All Hallows afternoon-to-evening event, complete with free goodie bags for the first 500 entrants and store-to-store trick-or-treating for all.

Registration for the 4:20 p.m. costume contest begins at 3:30 p.m. Awards will be handed out for each age group–1- to 2-year-olds, 3- to 4-year-olds, 5- to 6-year-olds and 7- to 12-year-olds. Costume-coordinated families and groups can also enter to win.

In addition to goodie bags for everyone, Photo Boutique will offer a free 4×6 photo to parents with costumed youngsters from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Irvine Police officers from the D.A.R.E. program will also be on hand to greet participants.

University Center, owned and managed by The Irvine Company, also has a swath of dining choices, including Steelhead Brewery, Britta’s Café, Chakra Indian Cuisine, Z Pizza, Lee’s Sandwiches, Cha FOR TEA, Asia Noodle Café, Gen Grill, Le Diplomat and Arriba Baja Grill.

For more information on the event, call 949-720-3172.
