Double deal Wednesdays at Sprouts

sproutsblog.jpgThe new Sprouts Farmers Market on Alton Parkway offers two week’s worth of advertised deals each Wednesday. They call it Double Ad Day, because the store’s specials, as printed in its circulars, are effective from Wednesday to Wednesday of each week. You don’t have to bring the ads in to get the prices, and they have extra circulars at the store. Click here to see the ads online. The store also accepts manufacturer’s coupons.

I’m a huge fan of the new Sprouts. It has a Trader Joe’s feel but with a bigger meat selection and a butcher - so that saves me from my Ralphs run. The prices are great: Last month, they sold watermelons for 99 cents each and avocados were four for $1. I love the spice compartments as well. I bought a nickel of paprika, a dime of sesame seeds, and a quarter or so of poppy seeds because that was all my salad recipe called for. Now I don’t have to avoid recipes that use too many spices since I don’t have to buy big shakers of them!

Sprouts is at 3775 Alton Parkway at Culver Drive. Hours: Hours: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Phone: 949-705-5435.

I like Sprouts too…they have the prices of Trader Joe’s and the selection of Whole Foods. Their refrigerated prepared meals are great for a bachelor like me…lots of different pasta, beef, chicken, seafood and pork dishes — all with healthy sides and only $3 - $5!

I can’t wait for the new Sprouts to open at the old Whole Foods store in Tustin.
